Pimchip has completed a Pre-A funding round of nearly ten million USD led by Redpoint Ventures China, with ZhenFund and Sequoia Capital China participating as follow-on investors. The funds raised in this round will be used for chip research and development work.
The S200 is the world's first commercially available processing-in-memory accelerator based on the SRAM architecture, bringing industrial-grade processing-in-memory into the 28nm era for the first time.
Pimchip has published a paper proposing an efficient ADC-free SRAM processing-in-memory acceleration engine. The module built based on the 28nm process can achieve a high energy efficiency ratio of 27.38TOPS/W, while achieving a high area efficiency ratio of 1.041Mb/mm2, reaching international leading indicators and achieving technological breakthroughs.
Led by Primavera Venture Partners, Pimchip's Series A funding round, which totaled tens of millions of USD, was joined by existing investors including Redpoint Ventures China, Sequoia Capital China, and ZhenFund. The funds raised in this round will be used to increase investment in technology and product research and development, accelerating the implementation of more application scenarios.
Pimchip has collaborated with a national laboratory to provide high-performance, low-power processing-in-memory solutions. The delivered results have been successfully applied to the computing acceleration module and data control module of large-scale photodetectors.
